The Department of Education released a statement last 03 April 2019 to ensure the public that the Senior High School Voucher Program will continue for School Year 2019-2020. The statement was released amidst the public’s concern that the program is in danger due to the reenactment of last year’s National Budget.
DepEd remains firm with the mandate to uphold the right of every Filipino to quality basic education. As such, the department will continue to engage the services of PEI’s and non-DepEd public schools offering Grades 11 and 12.
The reenacted budget shall remain in force until such time the GAA is passed into law by Congress (citation). Under last year’s General Appropriations Act (2018), the Senior High School Program’s allocation is P14.4 billion. This figure is short for this year’s budget of about 5.9 billion. Consequently, the Senior High School Voucher Program for this School Year’s application will be pending.
On the other hand, Grade 10 completers in School Year 2018-2019 under the following categories are automatically eligible for vouchers:
- Learners who completed from public schools operated by DepEd.
- In state and local universities and colleges.
- And in private schools who are ESC grantees.
